Welcome to Tripura
Cradled in a landscape dotted with hills, lush green valleys crisscrossed by rivers, sprawling lakes and pristine forests, Tripura is a land of antiquity in the north-eastern tip of peninsular India. Nestled in the Jampui Hills, Tripura beckons with its unique tribal culture and nature’s beauty and bounty. On its north, it has four valleys that have been separated by hills with heights of about 1,000 meters. On its south, it has open forested land spread over a wide range of area. It is bounded on the north, west, south and south-east by Bangladesh whereas in the east it has a common boundary with Assam and Mizoram.
In this land of adjoining water, Bharat Banabhikkhu Sangha Foundation is located in Nabincherra, a small township in Unakoti district of Tripura with branch centers in Agarthala, Chailengta, Manikpur, Gandacherra and Chawmanu under Dhalai district.
Life at Banavihara Centers in Tripura revolves around the Sangha, a Community of Monks and Lay Community. The Community of Monks follow the Dhamma full time and teach the Dhamma to the lay Community, which in turn supports the Community of Monks by providing the Four Requisites of a Monk - Food, Robes, Residence and Medicines. Lay person, who wish to develop their practice participate in the programs and activities at the Monastery.
The Community of Monks at Banavihara Centers are encouraged to practice the Dhamma in Monastery as well as in Forest. We provides Monastics Training with a solid foundation and train them in the practical affairs of Buddhism and giving them a conception of Sangha management. Emphasis is placed on strict observance of precepts so that they will be able to propagate the Dhamma. The Monks staying in Monastery run the Dhamma programs and other humanitarian activities of the Foundation. After helping in the Monastery, if the Monks wants to refine their mind, they go to forest for Meditation.
Int'l Sadhananandapala Banavihara Foundation's objective is to instill, strengthen, moral and spiritual values in individuals, society and the world to promote a society of wisdom, compassion and gratitude.
