As part of the 500 Novice Mass Ordination Program, the newly ordained novices undertook a Dhammayatra, also known as a Peace Walk—a sacred journey of spiritual growth and shared devotion. Walking mindfully together, the novices embodied the gentle presence of the Dhamma, offering a living reminder of peace, discipline, and moral conduct.

The word Dhammayatra is derived from Dhamma, meaning goodness and truth, and Yatra, meaning progress or journey. Through this practice, the novices are trained to cultivate self-discipline, patience, and mindfulness, while learning to overcome inner defilements. At the same time, their peaceful procession inspires faith, calm, and reflection in all those who witness it.

Rooted in a tradition that dates back to the time of the Buddha, the Dhammayatra also invites the participation of the lay community. Devotees line the path of the novices, offering flower petals as an expression of reverence and gratitude to the Triple Gem—the Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Saṅgha. This shared act strengthens the bond between monastics and lay followers, uniting them in a collective expression of faith.

Through this sacred journey, the International Sadhananandapala Banavihara Foundation (ISBF) continues to uphold living traditions that nurture harmony, devotion, and moral values. May this Dhammayatra inspire inner peace, strengthen faith, and contribute to a more compassionate and mindful world.
