Going on Alms-round (Piṇḍacāra): A Living Tradition of Giving and Gratitude

With hearts filled with gratitude and reverence, the 500 novices embarked on the sacred alms-round (Piṇḍapāta). As the novices walked mindfully through the villages, the serene atmosphere was gently illuminated by the faith, kindness, and generosity of the local community, who came forward to offer alms with devotion and respect.

This timeless tradition is more than an act of giving food. It is a living practice that nurtures humility, contentment, and mindfulness in the Saṅgha, while allowing lay supporters to cultivate generosity (dāna) and gratitude. Through this shared practice, a deep sense of interconnectedness arises—strengthening the spiritual bond between the monastic community and the householders.

Each offering made during today’s alms-round became a meaningful step toward nurturing wholesome qualities of giving, trust, and mutual care. For the novices, Piṇḍacāra serves as a lesson in simplicity and dependence on kindness; for the community, it is an opportunity to participate directly in the path of merit and compassion.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in and supported this noble activity. May the merits of your generosity bring blessings of happiness, peace, and spiritual progress to you and your families. May this beautiful tradition continue to flourish for the welfare and happiness of all beings. 🙏
